Was established in September 1986.
 
Is a joint venture company consisting of four shareholders and becomes a 39.5% owned associate of The Cross-Harbour (Holdings) Limited effective from
18 December 2008.
 
Has a working team of over 200 staff.
 
Was granted a franchise to construct and operate the HK$2 billion dual-tube-4-lane Tate’s Cairn Tunnel (“TCT”) in accordance with the Tate's Cairn Tunnel Ordinance enacted in July 1988. Under the BOT (Build, Operate and Transfer) contract, the franchise covers the financing, design, construction, commissioning and operation of the TCT for a period of 30 years, i.e. up to July 2018.
 
Is committed to provide a convenient access to commuters travelling between New Territories East and Hong Kong East and the best possible service to the tunnel users.
 
The Tate’s Cairn Tunnel

links the urban areas of Hong Kong Island East, through the Eastern Harbour Tunnel and Kowloon East on the elevated Kwun Tong Bypass with the "New Towns" of the New Territories.

has a tunnel length of 4 km, is the longest road tunnel in Hong Kong.

has a designed capacity of 78,500 vehicles per day. The current average daily throughput is around 55,700 vehicles.

has raised its tolls six times since its opening in June 1991 (with effect from 1 May 1995, 1 November 1996, 2 January 2000, 1 August 2005,
30 November 2008 and 25 December 2010).
